a list of things i’m loving lately

  • spicy chicken tenders
  • sewing simple garments (made a super comfy skirt, and now have a shirt in progress!)
  • hole’s first two albums (pretty on the inside & live through this)
  • messing around in my new art journal
  • the spring decorations i pulled out recently (lots of little crochet guys ive made over the last few years!)
  • reading about deranged women. i finished “carrie” by stephen king last night. house of psychotic women by kier-la janisse is also in progress, and i am loving it (and yes, hayden confirmed on tumblr the song is named after the book. this would have been last year i think? back when it was the first version uploaded (there were 2 versions prior to the perverts album version)). i’ve also recently finished the bell jar by sylvia plath (amazing, except the racism, which was rampant) and a feminist history of photography by emma lewis. other books in progress as well, but this section is for women’s wrongs 🙂 we’ll talk about the other books later
  • was getting back into movies there for a little bit! some notable faves include images (1972), 3 women (1997), nosferatu (2024), identikit (1974), and a rewatch of possession (1981). we continue on with women’s wrongs of course 🙂 i’d like to write more about these separately, what i’ll say here is that images may be some of my fave doppelganger horror (next to possession, of course).

  • the lungs symphony album cd which just arrived! despite being the 5th or 6th version of lungs, its still so fresh. the orchestrations are breathtaking and, as always, florence’s live vocals are earth shatteringly beautiful
  • learning how to adapt my guitar playing to my hand/wrist difficulties
  • and i’ll leave you all with this live performance from swan, which has been my introduction to the band (and i plan to start in on the rest of their discography over the next few weeks!)
